Cats are funny...

Yesterday I lost Pookie...
The house isn't that big, so I was a little bit worried when she was missing for about 2 hours during the day. I looked everywhere, closets, under the bed, in the basement, under furniture, even out in the garage...no Pookie.
Finally I for some reason thought to look in the spare bathroom...and sure enough there was Pookie...she pulled down the hand towel to sleep on in front of the heat vent...

So it would seem that Pookie isn't liking the cold weather of upstate NY...here are other shots of her in front of various heat vents in the house...

This one y0u have seen before, but it seemed appropriate to use it again in this Pookie and the heat vent display...

Whatever happend to...

Waterbeds?

Don't ask, but for some reason this morning I woke up thinking about waterbeds...
I used to have one, at the time it was the greatest thing ever. They were so popular and then one day they were never heard of again. The best thing about the waterbed was the it could be heated! I used to crank the heat on my bed about an hour before going to bed...it would be so warm and toasty for me. I want to know what happened to the mighty waterbed...who decided it was no longer cool to sleep on them? And why?

Fake Snow!

I moved to NY with the promise of snow and lots of it...I feel betrayed...
There is no snow here...it is fake snow, the type of snow that fell in PA. As a child I suffered all of those types when snow was promised, by the feet, only to wake up the next morning to look out my window at the cold bleak brownish-green grass...not a blanket of fresh white snow. I am having those same feelings of disappointment now. As I sit here typing this, it is snowing, but I can tell, it won't last. The flakes are big and slow...not the heavy downpour of snow during a blizzard, the type of snow that lasts for days leaving over a foot or more of fluffy white snow. This is crappy fake snow and I don't like it. Everyone keeps telling me to wait for March...bah...in PA by March it was time to get out the shorts cause winter was over...I will wait for March, but I am not happy about it, not one bit. ;-)

Stupid fake snow...getting my hopes up for school cancellation...and days of building snow men in the front yard and having snowball fights with the neighborhood boys...only to leave me sitting in class angry at the false promises.

Phobias!

So I have a huge fear of spiders...they give me the creeps. They make me itchy and jumpy...
I am sure you all know where this story is going...

Today I went into the basement to restart the stupid router...after unplugging the router, waiting for 10 seconds and plugging it back in, I turned to leave the cat litter room in the basement and across the room on the wall was the biggest spider I have ever seen in my entire life.

Seriously I am not going to try and give a size of the spider, but it really looks like one of the spiders you see on the shows about Australia (they have some big fucking spiders down there!). This one is all black and furry and fat...with giant spider legs. I am so itchy right now it is not even funny...I have checked myself in the mirror twice now........

Damn the dryer is buzzing, my laundry is done....I can't go back down there...
I left the spider roaming free...I was afraid to get too close to it. It might jump at me...Grande said that it won't, but hell no, I just can't go down there, ever again...okay at least until it is smashed up into little spider bites.
Maybe then I can go down.

To prove the existence of the giant spider I may try to get a picture of it...
Okay I have to go and hide on the couch for the next two hours until Grande gets home.

Quit your Bitching!

Okay that title is directed at me...

After receiving some negative comments on my last post about how it can get a bit boring being a stay at home girlfriend i decided that i should keep those thoughts to myself so as not to upset my friends who are out in the workforce.

To combat some of that boredom I have taken on a new challenge of cooking!
Things are going well so far and I haven't burnt down the house which is a very good thing! This week I have made two successfully dinner and a batch of mint chocolate chip cookies - from scratch! Flour, sugar and all that....not out of a plastic tube! For those of you who don't know me, this is huge! Prior to this my cooking resume listed things such as boiling water...crying and pretty much not much else.

I do have to say that my first take at the cookies didn't turn out so well and had to be dumped out. I missed an all important step of combining the sugar and eggs first before adding in the flour...putting it all into one bowl and then mixing...doesn't actually do anything...it remained crumbly and kind of dry! My second take went much better and actually produced cookies. I have to work on my oven timing...the first group in the oven were a little under cooked and the second group were a little over cooked. But they both tasted okay, which is really the ultimate goal, right?!

If I am able to get all my school work done this weekend I hope to continue my cookie baking experiments, as well as cooking dinner. Wish me luck! :-)

Stay at home girl friend -- WEEK ONE

Boring...

Not that I am complaining, it is great not having to worry about working, but it is boring not talking to anyone during the day. I have plenty of school work to keep me occupied, but I find myself getting antsy for human communication.

Of course this first week still feels like I am on vacation...I wake up several times in the middle of the night thinking that tomorrow is the day I have to go back to work.

The other down side is that I don't really have much to blog about...no annoying co-workers to bitch about...I am sure once I get into a regular routine things will get back to normal for me, but for right now things just seem very strange...
